LOPER, Arvone Alice (nee TURNER) Died peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2017 in Shelburne, Ontario, at the age of 89 years. Arvone is survived by her devoted sons Christopher Brant Loper and his wife Kylie Loper of Erin, Ontario and John Calvin Loper and his partner Katharine Barthel of Toronto, Ontario; her loving grandchildren Noah William and Deacon James Loper; her brother Marvin G. Turner of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, nephew Eric S. Turner of Elk Mound, Wisconsin and niece Amy M. Turner Gross of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Arvone was born on February 17, 1928, in Pepin County, Wisconsin, to Leon and Emma Turner (nee Hermann), a keen student with a passion for helping others, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Nursing. After meeting and marrying Rev. Brant P. Loper in Chicago, Illinois, the two were married from 1958 – 1979 and had two sons. She was a working mother, who practiced and taught in the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest for years, before coming to Canada in 1975. Her career continued where she worked as an Instructor and Faculty member of Seneca College Nursing program in Toronto Ontario, until her retirement. Arvone was a generous and kind woman; she was passionate about the arts; attending music and theatre events in and around the city. Her love for nature started at a young age and she enjoyed many summers with her family at her beloved cottage on Tainter Lake, Wisconsin, where she could bird watch from her porch and watch sunsets over the lake. She was an active and dedicated member of the Presbyterian Church of Canada and the United Church of Canada. A private service will be held for family members to celebrate her life.
