BARNSLEY, Lorne Alexander October 18, 1923 – July 24, 2016 It is with extreme sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our father, Lorne Barnsley in his 93rd year. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy Brown (1999) of 58 years and his parents Alex and Anna May. Much loved father of Darlene Newman (Terry) and Donna Rushton (Bill). Cherished grandfather to Jeff Newman (Connie), Katie Kirton (Dan), Derek Rushton and Laura Rushton. Loving great-grandfather to Brooke, Dylan, and Michaela. Lorne was a WWII Veteran who served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Sonar Operator, from 1942-1945. He retired from Westinghouse Canada after 39 years of service. An avid golfer, he could be found at the Chedoke golf course on beautiful days. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 127, 233 Elizabeth Street, Grimsby, Ontario 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. A loving, generous father who adored and cherished his family above all else, will be greatly missed.
