Brian AUSTIN
AUSTIN, Brian (1931-2017) Passed away peacefully in his sleep early Saturday, February 18, 2017. Predeceased by his best friend and eternally loved wife of 53 years, Margaret (2006). Survived by his elder brother, Rev. Francis Austin of Manchester, UK, and predeceased by his eldest brother, Raymond (2002). Loving father to Larry (Corinne), Geoff (Marsha), Valerie Rogano (Frank), and Jim (Cindy). Granddad to Jennifer Crevatin (Brandon), Steven Rogano (Alicia), Leland, Dennis (Sarah), Nicole Rogano, Brynda, Kevin, Susan (Sheldon Nelson), and Adele Rogano. Great grandfather to Stella and Nicholas Crevatin, and Isla Nelson. ‘Uncle Brian’ to children of family and friends who had emigrated from Manchester: Lynn Jarrett and Karen Carubba, Janet Wery and Sheila Whaley, Barbara, Stephen and Andrew Tywonek. A devout Catholic, Brian was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes, Regina Mundi, and Sts Peter and Paul parishes over the years. A proud retiree of Dofasco after over 30 years in the Medical Centre, he was also an avid volunteer for the Red Cross, Scouts Canada, and St. Vincent de Paul Society. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel” , 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Wednesday, February 22 from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. Vigil prayers for Brian will be held Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 50 Brucedale Avenue East, Hamilton on Thursday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Mount Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or a charity of your choice. Special thanks from the family to Val who channeled the family’s love and took the primary responsibility for looking after dad, giving him loving guidance and support in the years since the unexpected death of mom.
