BRIGITTEHOEFER

BRIGITTE HOEFER Brigitte passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Kensington Hospice in Toronto. Brigitte will be deeply missed by her family and friends: her beloved husband Wolfgang, step-son Horst (Jill) and grandchildren Olive and Maeve. Predeceased by her much loved father, Georg and Godson Marcus, she will be lovingly remembered by her mother Maria, her siblings Maria, Johanna of Calgary (Dick deceased), Waltraud, Georg (Anne Marie, deceased), Harald (Josephine), her special niece Andrea (Thomas) and other relatives in Germany, Austria and Florida and her dear friends Chelsea Martorella and Liz and Tony Smart. Brigitte immigrated to Canada from Austria with her sister Johanna in 1967. After a short time in Montreal and Vancouver, she finally settled in Toronto where she met her husband Wolfgang Herget. They operated a very successful French restaurant, “Le Trou Normande” in Yorkville. She went on to open La Recolte Restaurant and Catering, followed by The Village Idiot Restaurant in Forest Hill Village. After her retirement, she followed her passion, working with plants and flowers. She also volunteered her services at Edward’s Gardens and the Toronto Distress Centre. Brigitte, we will remember your great sense of style and flair for elegant living. We enjoyed your quick wit and dry sense of humour and we will be forever inspired by your positive outlook and zest for life. Special heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nursing staff and volunteers at Princess Margaret Hospital, St. Elizabeth Home Care and Kensington Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 20th at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 78 Clifton Rd., Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kensington Health in Brigitte’s memory.
