CARMELA LAROSA With sadness, we announce the passing of Carmela on March 18, 2017 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at the age of 92. Cherished mother of Alfredo (Rosina) and John (Virgilia). Proud nonna of Robert (Nancy), John (Maria), Christina (Johnny), Nadia (Jeff) and Diana (Dominic) and great-grandmother of Michael, Alexander, Sienna, Victoria, Catherine, Sophia, Nathan, Daniel and Vincent. Predeceased by her sister and three brothers, Carmela will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their families. Born August 9, 1924 in Mammola, Reggio Calabria she came to Canada and raised her two sons, her strength, courage and compassion will echo on in her children and grandchildren. Visitations will be held at Bernardo Funeral Homes (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4, 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Ave. W., at Dufferin St.) on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens (33 Memory Gardens Lane – Don Mills Rd., south of Steeles Ave.). In memory of Carmela, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
