DavidElgin PETTINGILL

PETTINGILL, David Elgin May 9, 1937 – June 24, 2017 David, of Toronto and Paudash Lake, always considered himself to be a lucky man. He grew up in a small town, Port Colborne. Because INCO had a refinery there, he was able to pay his way through Huron College while getting a Business Degree from Western. There he met the girl of his dreams, Mary Jane McEachern. They had a scrappy, happy marriage for 56 years. Dave worked at Price Waterhouse and Imperial Oil as a Chartered Accountant and retired early. He and Mary Jane thoroughly enjoyed the following years, in Port Colborne, Rosedale and at their cottage. Dave was the very proud father of three wonderful children, Trin (Bonnie), Alex (Adah) and Karen (Ed). Dave cherished his four fabulous granddaughters, Grace and Lily Pettingill and Jordyn and Charlotte Lee. Also survived by his brother Peter and his family, Jane, Chris and Heather and his beloved niece, Sylvia and her family Eric, Sarah and Colin. Very special thanks to Dr. Gill at the Toronto General Hospital. A funeral service will be held at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave. W. (2 stop lights west of Yonge St.), on Thursday, June 29th at 2 p.m. To honour Dave’s life, in lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra or World Wildlife Fund or a charity of your choice.
