LEWIS, David Lloyd With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of David on September 12, 2017. Beloved husband of Gail (Coulas), loving father of Adam and Anne and cherished brother of Michael and Richard (Teresa), David was predeceased by his father Harold and his mother Gaby (Gabet). He will be deeply missed by his large extended family. Known for his quiet intelligence, David overcame many obstacles to achieve his PhD from McMaster University. In Hamilton, he also met Gail and started his family. He spent his personal and professional lives teaching and sharing his wisdom with those around him at McMaster University, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Ontario Public Services, most recently at the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. Everyone who knew David will remember him for his generosity of spirit, his quirky sense of humour and his devotion to family. Special thanks are owed to Dr. Jane Brunton for the care and guidance provided to David and his family for the past twenty years, as well as to the professionals at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Carpenter Hospice. The family would appreciate donations to either organization in lieu of flowers. In honour of David’s wishes, a cremation has taken place. The family welcomes friends and family to a service in celebration of his life at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, on Saturday, September 16th at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the Family Centre.
