DEATHSSAMSON, Lorne Christian

Lorne Samson
DEATHS SAMSON, Lorne Christian Passed away peacefully, in Hamilton ON, in his 87th year, on Father’s Day, June 18, 2017. Survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Hannah ‘Ann’. Loving father to his sons Cal (Sheri) and Joel (Cynthia) and proud ‘Ampa’ to Shane and Kyle and his dedicated sister Myra Rippon of Victoria, BC. Lorne was born in Raymore, Saskatchewan to parents Christian and Sophia Samson, along with siblings Douglas, Myra and Barry. The family moved to Vancouver, BC in the mid 1940’s after the passing of his father. In the early 1950’s, Lorne ventured east and settled in Hamilton, ON where he had friends. He worked at Stelco for 37 years in the Utilities and Instrumentation group retiring in 1990. In his more active years he enjoyed curling, golfing and fishing along with family trips throughout Canada. In his retirement years, Lorne enjoyed frequent trips with Ann to Florida where they could relax and enjoy walks on the beach and the company of friends. He and Ann loved spending time with Shane and Kyle as they grew up and were always very interested in their many sporting activities. Thankfully he did not suffer through an extended illness and was still doing crossword puzzles up to a few days prior to his passing. It was something that he loved to do each morning for over 50 years. Special mention to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 622 (Stoney Creek) for which Lorne was a proud member. A family gathering to celebrate Lorne’s life is planned in the coming weeks.
