MURRAY, Dr. Malcolm Erwin Dr. Malcolm Erwin Murray passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 with his wife Margaret at his side at The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington. He was 85 years of age. Malcolm was born in Cornwall on April 17, 1932 and raised on a farm in the neighbouring community of Martintown. He studied medicine at Queen’s University, graduating in 1956. He went on to post-graduate studies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in England where he met and married his wife of 55 years, Margaret. The Murrays moved to Burlington in 1967 and Dr. Murray started working out of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, and then Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, before retiring in 2012. Dr. Murray’s dedication to his patients was well-known throughout the medical community, including members of the staff at The Carpenter Hospice who were grateful they could care for him in his final days. He loved skiing with his family and visiting with his in-laws from Tynemouth, England. Dr. Murray is survived by his wife Margaret, his children Dr. Carolyn Murray, Judy, Lance, Mark, Sharon, and Richard (Carmina). Cherished grandfather of Lauren, Malcolm, Sierra, Cayden, Sydney, Cailey, and late granddaughter Shaela. Pre- deceased by his brothers Doug and Dr. David Murray. A celebration of Dr. Murray’s life will be held at West Plains United Church, 549 Plains Rd. W., Burlington, on July 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to The Carpenter Hospice or The Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation in memory of Dr. Malcolm Murray.
