DR.MARY PAPANTONY

DR. MARY PAPANTONY

Mary left us Saturday, July 2, 2016 after a long illness. She was born in Alexandria, Egypt to a Greek family in 1930. In spite of the war she had a great childhood, and she fondly remembered the international flavour of her native city. She studied medicine at the University of Alexandria and, after her internship, went to the U.S. for further training. She came to Toronto in the 1960s and completed her training in anaesthesia. Dr. Papantony was a staff anaesthetist at Mount Sinai Hospital until her retirement. She is predeceased by her sister Douki, her brother Nicholas and survived by her niece Anna. She will be missed by the friends of her youth, Lolita and Ovid, the Kamel family and her Canadian family of friends. Many thanks to her wonderful care givers Perla, Jennifer and May, and the dialysis unit at St. Michaels Hospital. According to Mary’s wishes there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Bon Voyage Mary, the “committee” will miss you. We will remember your energy, your style, your cooking and your stories. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com
