EDITHELISABETH WINZEL

EDITH ELISABETH WINZEL May 31, 1922 – January 20, 2017 Peacefully passed away at Peterborough Retirement Residence, on Friday, January 20, 2017 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Friedrich “Freddy” Brunotte. Caring step-mother of Ursula Hawkins and the late Gerald Brunotte, step- grandmother of Theresa Lush (Chuck), Christina Wiedenhorn (Peter) and Randolph Schnell (Lisa), step-great-grandmother to Shane, Christopher, Katie, Cody, Alayna and Erika and step- great-great-grandmother to Ava and Lucy. Edith was raised in an orphanage in Berlin, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1958. She lived in her adopted beloved city of Toronto until 2015 when she retired to Peterborough Retirement Residence to be close to family. She worked for the Robert Simpson Company, namely the Record Department, for about 25 years. A good choice for her because she loved music. She lived in the east end of Toronto, near Broadview and Danforth from there she walked almost daily to Victoria Park and Danforth. Quite an accomplishment, she did this until she was in her late 80s. She knew every good restaurant on the way and frequented many. She had a smile for everyone and was loved by many for her sunny disposition. She had a mind of her own, lived life to the fullest and never complained. Cremation arrangements were completed through Nisbett Funeral Home, 600 Monaghan Road South, Peterborough, 705-745-3211. A private family burial at McGillivray Cemetery is planned for the spring. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
