EDNADORIS (CAREY) TURNBULL

EDNA DORIS TURNBULL (nee CAREY) Peacefully at Georgetown Hospital on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. Edna was the beloved wife of the late James Turnbull. Loving mother of Pamela Eyre (the late Bruce) of Belmont, Gloria Riddall of Mississauga and Glenn (Nancy) of Simcoe. Predeceased by her sons Dale and Kimberly. Grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 6. She will be missed by her 5 siblings and their families in England. Edna came to Canada as a war bride living in Toronto, Ancaster, Hamilton and then Georgetown in 1955. She was involved in St. George’s Anglican Church, its choir and Daughters of the Church. She was active in the Rotary Shows, an original of Globe Productions, Lady Barbershoppers chorus and performed in Pioneer Day shows. She was a familiar face having worked at Standard Products, Silver’s Department Store and Barber Jewellers, with later years spent as lunch room monitor at Stewarttown and Centennial Middle Schools. For many years, Edna volunteered at The Bennett Centre, participating in the St. George’s weekly church services. Edna has touched many lives and will be sadly missed by her many friends and loved ones. Her family thanks her dear neighbours and closest friends for all their support in maintaining Edna’s independent living! Friends will be received at J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd. (north of Maple Ave.), Georgetown, 905-877-3631, on Friday, July 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, July 9th at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
