Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years Margaret (Costie) Green and his three children Edward (Silena) Green, Theresa (Edward) Szpytma, Susan (Todd) Kearney. His grandchildren; Nicholas and Benjamin (Chabot), Abby (Green) and Rachel, Zackary and Noah (Kearney) will surely miss his warm hugs, smiles, and sense of humour. He will join his mother Lillian Green and leaves behind his sister Margaret (Bruce) Pierce and brother George (Jacqueline) Green. He will be missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law; Don and Kay Costie, Elsie Tindale, Jim and Joanne Costie, Rose and Ron Payne and will join Evelyn and Al Johnson and Bob Tindale. He will be warmly remembered by all his nieces and nephews. Edward was born in Hamilton in 1939. He spent most of his life living with his family on East 27th Street surrounded by a close community of wonderful neighbours. It was clear to anyone who knew Ed that his priority was his family. His #1 job was to provide for, nurture and love them. He was a wonderful husband and father. Ed worked for 38 years at International Harvester/J.I. Case, retiring at age 55. He spent the next 22 years doing exactly what he wanted to do. Gardening at Pine Lake, snow birding to Florida’s Centre Crest, reading and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends. Until the Leukemia struck he had not spent longer than a day in the hospital. Ed’s days were pretty full and active. From all accounts, he has had a good life. We would like to thank the professionals at Heart of Florida Hospital, Dr. Xenocostas and all the nursing staff at London’s Victoria Hospital, everyone at Hamilton’s Juravinski Oncology Day Clinic, Dr. Abeer from Fletchers Medical Centre and the CCAC of Hamilton for their compassionate care during this difficult time. You are welcome to come seek solace with the family on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 between 3-8 p.m. at BAY GARDEN’S FUNERAL HOME , 947 Rymal Rd. E., Hamilton. A service will be held on Thursday, May 4 at the same location at 11 a.m. followed by a Memorial of Life. Eternal Rest grant unto him oh Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon him.
