HUDSON, Edward After a prolonged illness, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward “Ed” Frank Hudson, July 5, 2017, after very recently celebrating his 92nd birthday. Married for 61 years, Ed was a devoted husband to Doris (Weiler) and loving father to Jeff (Leslie Ann), Jill (Joe), Anne, Ed and Tracy (Steve); beloved grandfather to Kaylea (Lucas), Jamie (Tom), Matthew, Lauren, Stephanie, Lindsay and Ryan; and great-grandfather to Henry, Charlie and Phoebe. Ed is survived by many nieces and nephews, neighbours and friends. Born in Cobourg, Ontario, Ed served in the Royal Canadian Navy before eventually settling in Toronto. He was a career newspaperman who held managerial positions in sales at both The Toronto Telegram and The Toronto Star. Ed was an enthusiastic member of Gyro International, a founding member of St. Clement’s Parish, where he actively served for almost 50 years and a keen world traveller. Above all else, Ed was a fiercely proud family man. He was predeceased by his parents, Sydney Walter and Winnifred Ruth and his two siblings – Irene (McMahon) and Sydney. Ed’s family would like to acknowledge the caring support offered to him by the kind staff at Cawthra Gardens Long Term Care Residence in Mississauga. Family and friends may call at the Turner & Porter Funeral Home (Butler Chapel) at 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke, Ontario, on Monday, July 10th, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, 409 Markland Dr., Etobicoke, on Tuesday, July 11th at 11 a.m. All are invited to join the family at a reception in the parish hall immediately following the service.
