Elinor Beatrice MAITLAND
(nee MURRAY aka ‘MURR’)
Elinor died unexpectedly but peacefully in Millbrook, ON, on September 16, 2016, aged 89.
Predeceased by husband Peter (2010) and son Andrew (1982), Elinor leaves behind daughters Tori and Pat (Ian Burns) and grandchildren Jay and Sam.
Toronto born and raised, she worked in Vancouver and Bermuda until marrying Peter and living in New York City. They returned to Toronto to start a family.
Retiring to Howe Island, near Gananoque, they spent 17 years treasuring kind neighbours, stunning sunsets and all creatures great and small. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, boat rides and planning hot dog roasts with her grandchildren.
Elinor spent her last years at Centennial Place in Millbrook, ON. Heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary Cennial Place staff, whose care and attention made her feel safe and loved. We discovered a kinder, gentler Elinor who loved chocolate milkshakes and big band music.
