ERIC BREWER Passed away peacefully at home in Upper Kingsclear, NB, on Monday, June 27, 2016 at the age of 93. As a young man, Eric enjoyed cycling and water skiing. He met his wife Esther Laughlin while roller skating at Toronto’s Mutual Arena. In his middle years, Eric coached little league baseball, played the accordion and built nearly 100 model airplanes. In his seventies, he continued long-distance swimming and took up roller blading. At 75, was able to do push ups with a 50-lb. box of stones on his back. In his final years, Eric lived with his son Paul and travelled to Florida, Cuba and Hawaii. Eric had a lifelong career as a carpenter and celebrated 40 years of marriage until widowed in 2000. By spending time with his children, he was able to pass along his values of physical fitness, financial responsibility, honesty and humility. Eric was best known for his sense of humour and enjoyment of life. Eric will remain in the hearts of his children Wayne Brewer (Jaishree Chudasama), Paul Brewer and Anne-Marie Hiltz (Jason). He will also be missed by his grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Hiltz. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Veterans Affairs and to the home care workers who assisted Paul in keeping Eric at home during his final years. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Funeral Home in Thornhill, ON, on Friday, July 1st from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2nd.
