Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in his 97th year. Loving husband of Rita. Dear father of Jeannene (late Kenneth) Webb, Bill (Kiki) and Paul (Dana). Caring grandfather of Grant, Kevin, Meacham and Pilar. Survived by his sisters Mary and Patsy and his brother Lorne. Predeceased by his sisters Jeanne and Geraldine. Ernie will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews and their families. He was a Senior Olympic Speed Skating Champion. Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of the Veterans L. East Wing – 2nd floor. A Celebration of Ernie’s Life will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St., at Goulding, south of Steeles), on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Veterans Foundation.
