EUGENIJA TERESE BAKSA (SKIBAITE) July 10, 1926 – September 8, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenija at Labdara Nursing Home on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Jouzas and loving mother of Steve (Diane), Vida (late Brad) and Danny (Linda). Adored Grandma of Carina, Kyle, Kristin, Landon, Ryan and Katelynn. Eugenija will be fondly remembered for her zest for life and unending passion for assisting and comforting others in need. Born in Lithuania, Eugenija travelled through parts of Europe before immigrating to England where she pursued her passion to serve people by studying Nursing. She studied and practiced in England before venturing to Canada where she met her husband through the Lithuanian community, started her family and continued her Nursing career. Eugenija was proud to have acquired four languages fluently during her years in Europe. Her passions led her to many years of assisting others at Willows Nursing Home and Extended Care until the age of 71 when she decided it might be time to retire. Throughout the years, Eugenija held many hands in the hopes of offering comfort to the sick and elderly in their time of loneliness, pain and fear. Eugenija spent her final years at Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home as a resident where she would often, through joking and laughter, remind the staff how a patient should be cared for, as she too wore those shoes for many years. Eugenija will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of her family, friends and acquaintances as she reunites with the love of her life, Jouzas.
