FLORENCEIRENE CARSELL

FLORENCE IRENE CARSELL (nee MACDONALD) May 12, 1922 – May 12, 2017 Florence passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017, on her 95th birthday. She leaves behind her children Cathy, Michael, Nancy (Ken) and Janice (Gary), 7 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by her husband Quintin (Red), daughter Maureen and granddaughter Lisa. Born on May 12, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario, she shared many stories about Sunnyside Park, Marquette, Michigan, travelling to the World’s Fair in 1933, taking the trolley north and the Bowmanville Zoo. She met Quintin roller skating at the Mutual Street Arena and they were married October 20, 1945. They moved to Willowdale in 1949 and raised their family. She worked at General Electric and then Canada Post for many years. In 1992, they moved north to Peterborough and then to the cottage located in Buckhorn. They enjoyed travelling out west, Britain and Europe. Florence also enjoyed square dancing, bowling and being part of the Golden Tones. Florence had an impeccable memory and the stories that were told will carry on for those that heard them. She left us on her own terms with dignity and courage. As per Florence’s wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and interment at Prospect Cemetery in Toronto will happen at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society (www.lakefieldanimalwelfare.org).
