GARYA. FITCHETT

GARY A. FITCHETT, CA 1941 – 2016 With great sadness we share the sudden passing on July 23, 2016 of this adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit. Predeceased by parents, Mary (Nitchie) and Arthur Fitchett of Scarborough, brothers Rick of Scarborough and Terry of Ennismore and son Todd of Port Perry. Gary is survived by his wife of 51 years Marilyn (Moore) and his children: Adrienne Shillinglaw (Chris) of Bowmanville, Paul Fitchett (Kathleen) of Toronto, and Amy-Marie Gardie (Florent) of L’Huisserie, France and his brother, Ron (Sharon) of Oakville. Grandpa Gary will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Jamie and Kate Shillinglaw, Alice Fitchett and Gabriel and Olivia Gardie. Uncle Gary will be remembered by his nieces and nephews. Gary graduated from Riverdale Collegiate and completed his Chartered Accountancy qualifications (1965), joining a public partnership in 1969. Gary retired early in 1985, partnering with John Alton to establish Management Synergistics, a management and financial consulting firm. Gary enjoyed time gardening at home along the shores of Lake Scugog, developing the family farm and woodlot, exploring the Trent Severn Waterways, authoring books for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and as Past President of the Oshawa Rotary Club. Adventure never far from his mind, he still planned current and future projects with family, friends and cherished grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Wagg Funeral Home (216 Queen Street, Port Perry) on Monday, August 1, 2016, 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, August 2, 2016, 10-11 a.m., with a celebration of Gary’s life to follow at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
