KING, Gerald Michael —

Gerry died quietly in his sleep, Thursday, April 13, 2017 after a stay at Bridgepoint Hospital in Toronto, where he was very well cared for. Many thanks to all the staff. Born in Mt. Dennis in 1955, Gerry lived there for many years. He also lived in Parkdale and most recently at 220 Oak St. where he involved himself in community affairs and generously helping neighbours inspite of failing health and reduced mobility. An accomplished photographer and birder over his lifetime, he spent as many hours as he could in the outdoors, camping, looking for the perfect shot of his beloved birds and angling with mixed success for the big fish. He particularly appreciated the Leslie St. Spit wildlife habitat and spent much time there. He loved to write as we discovered: poems and stories with a flair for syntax and grammar. Along the way he shared his observations and quirky humour (as well as a beer or two) with who ever cared to chat. He had a somewhat sharper tongue though when discussing the state of our natural environment or overbuilding in downtown Toronto. He will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters Don (Donna), Teri (Jim), Marney, Susan, Larry (Sandra), Christine, Julian (Janet), Cecilia and Adrian (Elena), as well as a myriad of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a supporter of the Toronto Wildlife Centre and asked that any donations in his memory be made to them. As he wished, cremation has taken place and he will be interred along with his parents, Lew and Norberta King and his sisters Doreen, Diana and Denise. Miss ya kid.
