Gertrud(Trudi) ALBRICH

ALBRICH, Gertrud (Trudi) Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017, in her 92nd year at home. Beloved wife of Michael, loving mother of and fondly remembered by Mark, Arlene, Harold (Alexandra), and Timothy Chatterton who had a special place in Trudi’s heart. Gertrud and husband Michael were post World War II immigrants who began with little but by much hard work and determination built a good life in Canada, sharing 59 years together. A kind and devoted mother, Gertrud raised their three children, always making her family and especially the three of us her main priority. No one could have done a better job being a mom and despite her modesty she should be very proud of the adults she helped us to become. No problem was too big for our mom’s determination and she taught us to never give up without trying our best. Trudi’s favorite place was her home, spending time with people she loved and doing the things she enjoyed, especially having her whole family around her. An avid gardener, she loved experimenting and created an outdoor oasis so many people enjoyed. Trudi will also be missed by her furry friend, Mollie, who loved lunchtime because “gramma” would sneak her liverwurst. For the mom and wife who gave us so much and asked for so little we made sure mom could spend her last difficult days at home, the place she loved most. Our memories of you will last forever, but we will always miss you. Special thanks to in-home care workers Kurline, Marie, Marion and Mirian who looked after mom so well for the last six years. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Visitation to be held on Tuesday, May 2nd, from 3 p.m-5 p.m at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME- Fennell Chapel 322 Fennell Ave E., Hamilton. A private family service will be held with an interment at Mount Hamilton Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.cresmountfennellchapel.com
