Harry Norman ALLAN
ALLAN, Harry Norman (October 15, 1934 – June 25, 2017) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Harry Norman Allan at St. Joseph’s Hospital on the 25th of June, 2017 at the age of 82. “I am joining the ones I loved and I am waiting for those I love.” I am now peacefully in Heaven with my father, Harry “Slim” Allan, my mother Florence B. Hefferon (Nan), sisters Joyce Laxton (Art) and Dolores Gerrie (Hugh), step-daughters Lise Anne, Michele and step-son Derek Russell along with Duke, the dog and Minou, the cat. Leaving behind to mourn me, my loving wife, Clarisse (Claire), children Jennifer (Bill Rennie), Sandra (Roy Brennan), Christina (Claude Morin), step-children Christopher, Rosalind and Walter Russell (Irene, children: Tania, Cody and Brady). Also grandchildren Doug Allan, Kenny, Melissa and Derek Russell as well as Natalie (Sean Donohue), Michael Waples, Katrina (Richard Moss), great-grandchildren, Emily Russell and Lochlan Donohue. Many memories were made with cousins Dennis (Janice), Colin Hefferon and Shirley Barclay, nephew Dale Foran (A.J.) and long-time loving friend Deanna Allan as well as several nephews and nieces. I will also miss my brothers-in-law, George Temeriski, Lucien and Sam Gionet, sister-in-law Dorothy Chubb, Adrissa Lanteigne and a favourite cousin-in-law Jean Marie Morais. Having been a member of the Ontario Provincial Police for over 30 years, I have many 10-4 stories to tell; some challenging, some I shared with my friends Ray Glenn, Don Stephenson, Jack Hatch, Ed Ziliatto but the most memorable ones are those I choose to keep in my heart. However, I would like to share my proudest moments with you other than that of being a father. I loved to entertain one and all with my rendition of Al Jolson; I was a proud longtime volunteer driver for the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton as well as the Children’s Aid Society for over fifteen years. I was also a member of the Hamilton Olde Sports Slo Pitch Association. Regina Mundi Parish offered me spiritual comfort for over thirty years. On a lighter side, I thoroughly enjoyed our family celebrations as well as the times I spent holidaying in California while visiting my nephew Dale and AJ Foran. My love for my family is indescribable, I’ve met many strangers that became my friends and in dealing with life, my trick was not only to be generous but to maintain a sense of humour. Just remember, Nan was the cause of it all. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard but always near. Always loved, forever missed and very dear. Family and friends will be received at the DODSWORTH & BROWN Funeral Home – “ANCASTER CHAPEL”, 378 Wilson Street East, on Thursday, June 29th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with vigil prayers at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at REGINA MUNDI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 631 Mohawk Road West, Hamilton, at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 30th. If desired, memorial contributions to the Regina Mundi Building Fund or MADD would be appreciated by the family. Condolences may be shared at www.dbancaster.ca MISS ME BUT LET ME GO
