HARVEY, Anna Margaret Muriel (Muriel, nee Rollins) Peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 17, 2016, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Harold Jack Ronald (Ron) Harvey for 51 years. Loving mother of Deborah (Mark Hannon), Heather (Tom Prince), Douglas (Linda Angus), Roger, and Sean (Sue Kennedy). Much loved grandmother of Samantha, Kyle (Brittany Garrett), Elizabeth and Megan. Proud great-grandmother of Ethan and Cara. Lovingly remembered by nephews George and Robert (Robbie), and her cousin Katherine. Loving daughter of the late Beatrice Rollins (nee Whiting). Muriel was born and raised in Belleville, Ontario where at the age of 9 read about Florence Nightingale which inspired her to dedicate her life to helping others. Muriel graduated from Hamilton General Hospital Training School and worked as a nurse for over 40 years at Hamilton General Hospital and then at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital. Muriel earned the respect of her colleagues and helped form the local Registered Nurse Association (RNA) Union at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital and served as the Second Union President. Muriel’s many interests included golf, sailing, skiing, bowling, gardening, playing piano, Tai Chi, playing bridge and puzzles of all kinds. Muriel’s strength, wisdom, sense of humour, and loving supportive personality will be cherished by her family and friends forever. In following Muriel’s wishes a private cremation has taken place. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital especially the nurses of 5 South and 4 East and to Dr. Grzeslo and Dr. Martin (and Jean) for their continued care.
