OLIE, Jack —
Jack Olie, 72, died peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Grace Hospital following a brief illness. He leaves his daughters, Suzanne and Sharon and son Gordon, all of whom he loved very much.
According to his wishes, he has been cremated without pomp and ceremony; please remember him as he was, not how he died. Remember him for enjoying sharing time arguing with a dying neighbour about the news, the nurses who had to put up with his sense of humour, the fellow patients who joked about their pain management (and the odd poker game), hurting when a DND family lost everything because of overseas infestation, living for many miles with a spider plant in his cab because it was too cold to move in the back of the moving unit, not caring whether it was remedial kids, a sex worker or celebrity in his cab – everyone got the same respect. Remember him for his joy in living.
