Born in Laurium, Michigan on December 13, 1930, Betty grew up in the Upper Peninsula, where she trained as a Nurse, met and married her life partner, C. Roy. Together, in 1953, they moved to the Northern Ontario town of Wawa, where they raised their children, built the family cottage on Kabenung Lake. In 1969, the family moved south to Burlington, Ontario and ultimately to Waterdown, in 1983. She held many volunteer roles in her communities, worked as a registered nurse, then began as a realtor in 1972. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their welcoming homes, traveled the world with C Roy, played; bridge, piano, curling, some golf, remained passionate about pickerel fishing, picking wild blueberries and raspberries, finishing maple syrup and preserves.
