JAMES ERIC DONALD (JD, DON) SHAW December 7, 1929-September 2, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of JD, after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Melodie, children Derek (Lorna) and Judi Shaw and grandson Jonah. He will be sadly missed by Dawn-Marie and Paul, Candice and Dan, Ian, Sherie and Mitch. JD was born in Fergus, Ontario in 1929, and started his paid work as a Schoolteacher in a one room school in Elora at age 17. He soon moved on to selling textbooks across Canada and then went into the insurance business in Toronto. He eventually started his own commercial insurance brokerage, which he ran successfully for more than 30 years, with numerous long-term clients. JD had a wide range of interests, highlighted by becoming a high-hours private pilot, golfing, the Blue Jays and the Granite Club. He was an exceptionally loyal, generous friend, respected mentor, loving and loved husband and adored father. A Celebration of Life will be held in the afternoon of Friday, September 9th.
