Shortly after a final visit by his family, Dr. Jim Gracie passed from this life to the next. His children Lyn (Jim) Adams, Sue (Stuart) Hall, Trish (John) Wilkinson and Jim (Katherine) Gracie, along with his grandchildren Elizabeth, Carrie Ann, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Scott, Caleigh (Josh), Matt (Charity), Mark (Rachel), Brian, Michael, Kristen, and his great-grandchildren Grace, Joshua, Lily, and Ruby have been the blessed recipients of his love, hugs, and humour. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Lillias Caroline Gracie. He is survived by his younger brother Harry Gracie, to whom Jim was “Superman”. Jim was born and raised in Sceptre, Saskatchewan. He served as a bomber pilot in the RCAF, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Jim began his MD at the University of Saskatchewan and completed it at the University of Toronto in 1950. He was a well-regarded General Practitioner in North Toronto for 25 years and was the Medical Director for Union Carbide of Canada for 10 years. Jim led a life that was rich in all things that mattered to him and Lil: family, friends, his patients, community and his church. He loved them all. Jim was an avid golfer and a member of York Downs GC for over 60 years. The family would like to express their appreciation to the medical staff at Sunnybrook L Wing for their loving care over his final years. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13th.
