JEAN CAROL CARRIE (nee OLDREIVE) Retired L.L.B. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Beloved wife of the late General Surgeon, Alan. Dear mother of Rob (Paula) and Janis. Loving grandmother of Jonathan, Jennifer and David Carrie. Jean received a B.A. degree from the University of Toronto, winning the Governor General’s silver medal for English. Jean also received a L.L.B. from York University and was the first woman in the history of Osgoode Hall to win the gold medal for standing highest in the Bar exams. Very special thanks to the Care Managers from First Class Home Care Inc. who were with Jean for the past four years and who took excellent care of her and the staff at Union Villa Long Term Care for making her final years as comfortable as possible. Friends may call at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, on Friday, February 24th, from 5-8 p.m. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25th at 11 a.m. at St. Giles Kingsway Presbyterian Church, 15 Lambeth Road, Etobicoke (behind the Humbertown Shopping Plaza). Following the service, interment will be held at the Riverside Cemetery located at Royal York Road and Lawrence Avenue West. Jean really loved animals.
