JerroldW. DISHER

DISHER, Jerrold W. February 12, 1928 – September 26, 2017 Died peacefully in his sleep with the love of his life at his side. Jerry lived a long and fruitful life. He gave freely of his time and skills and had tremendous impact on the city of Hamilton, his church, his friends, and of course his family. As a part of the leadership team of Parker Consultants, an engineering firm in the city, he designed or influenced the establishment of the transportation infrastructure of the region, including Highway 403, and Burlington Street, as well as numerous less visible civil engineering projects throughout the region. If you got to work on time today, you can thank him. He was a leading member of the Hamilton Engineering Institute and other local associations that encouraged the development, support, and awareness of engineering in the region, was a past Engineer of the Year, and a Fellow of Engineers Canada. He relished simple pleasures in life – walks with Lorna and their dog, casual time with family, friends, and colleagues, social functions, breakfast meetings, pool, oysters, and flying. He could always find the good in anyone he met. We, his children, are incredibly proud of his legacy and example. And though saddened by his loss, we are so thankful and frankly in awe to have shared so much of his life on this planet so closely with him. He is survived by Lorna (nee Barr), his wife of 63 years, their children (Gary, Greg, Suzanne (Skinner) and Kristine (Medlar)), 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial of his life will be held at St. John United Church, 195 E. 38th St., Hamilton on Sunday, October 1st at 2:00 p.m.
