HANSON, Joan (born Weist formerly Andrews) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby. Joan was the loving spouse of Roy Hanson. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Janis Andrews (Ian Deathe) and Cheryl Raitakari. She was the proud grandmother of Nicole and Ryan Raitakari. Joan is survived by her sister Sharon Pentz (Paul) and will be missed by nephews Steven Pentz (Tracy) and Michael Pentz (Danielle) and her niece Anna Marie Pentz. Joan was a pioneering career woman working at the TD bank until retirement. She was a member of the Zontas, a volunteer for the Cancer Society and local hospitals. Gregarious, giving and kind, she made friends wherever she went. We are forever grateful for their love and support which has enabled her to live with a chronic illness these last years. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home , 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON (905.527.0405) on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – Burlington, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health in Hamilton would be appreciated.
