ARCHBOLD, Joan Irene (nee Gillait) May 20, 1920 – August 14, 2017 Passed away peacefully on Monday, in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late William Archbold. Loving mother of John and his wife Marian (nee Beck). Adored grandmother of Georgina and Edwin (Ted). Sister of the late Gilly Brand and Susan Summers. Joan taught in the UK before working as a designer at Sanderson Canada. In retirement, she was an avid painter and many are proud owner’s of her works. Joan was an amazing correspondent and kept in touch with friends and family throughout her life. To all who knew her, Joan was a lovely and talented lady with an infectious laugh, who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17th. A funeral service will be held in THE CHURCH OF ST. TIMOTHY, 100 Old Orchard Grove, Toronto at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 18th followed by a reception in the Church Hall.
