QUIGLEY, John Douglas “Jack” November 20, 1938 – October 5, 2017 Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, October 5th at the age of 78 after many years of struggling with health issues. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years Margaret (nee Guthrie) his children Doug, Gale and her husband Paul Chevalier, granddaughter Dr. Aimee Shaw and her fiancee Jesse Gamble and sister-in-law Patricia Drew. He was predeceased by his parents John Quigley Sr., Mary Douglas Quigley, step-brother Bob Quigley, and mother-in-law Edna Guthrie. During his teen years he was a Navy Cadet and participated in Scull Boat competitions. He had a passion for speed boats and car racing and was a great sports fan. He loved to attend the Miss Supertest boat races in Picton County and Stock car races in Ontario, and attended the Indy 500. He also loved to travel on cruise ships and visited many countries. Jack had a successful career in computers starting when computers were huge machines to travelling across Canada as a Systems Analyst setting up branch offices to head office companies. He was an employee of Chrysler Canada, Border Brokers, Skill Tools and retired as a long term employee in 2003 from ITP Nelson Book Publishers. He was always involved as a volunteer in his children’s activities. He coached baseball, managed hockey teams, served on the Board of Directors with the Unionville Skating Club and was a Section Accountant with the Central Ontario Section of Skate Canada, travelling many weekends across Ontario for competitions. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Central Ontario Section. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday October 11th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E., Agincourt (east of Kennedy Rd.), to share memories of Jack’s life. He only wanted folks to remember and share the good times prior to when his illnesses took over. At this time we would like to extend a big thank you to all his Personal Care Workers who were so wonderful to Jack for the past 4 years. Your kindness and compassion were a huge delight for him. Also special mention to Woody Zhang who was so dedicated to Jack and our family.
