GWILT, John Thomas —

Passed away on September 18, 2016 at the age of 91 in Mississauga, Ontario. Son of William and Olive, he grew up at the “four corners” of Cooksville. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean and devoted daughter, Debby. Survived by daughter, Janet Franks (Doug), son-in-law, George Thompson, grandsons Shawn McBride (Laurie), Chris McBride (Tina), Graham Franks and Gregory Franks (Saara Naudts). Great-grandpa to Poppy, Megan and Tyler. John served and was injured in World War II. Returning to Cooksville, he was a milkman for Cooksville Dairy, one of the last to work with a horse drawn wagon. Retired Captain of the Mississauga Fire Dept., he began this career as one of the first, few fire fighters for the Township of Toronto. He and Jean lived and raised their family in Cooksville and were dedicated members of Cooksville United Church. Honouring John’s wishes, a simple interment of his ashes will take place at St. John’s Cemetery. A friend to many, he will be remembered for his generous spirit and tireless work ethic.
