CARTER, John Hay John Hay Carter passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the age of 76 at the Toronto Western Hospital. Beloved husband to Laryssa, father to Adrienne (Billy) and Geoffrey, grandfather to Emilios and Athena. John will be sadly missed by his brothers Michael (Rhea) and David, nieces Joanne and Jacqueline, nephew Clayton and many friends. John spent two years with CUSO in Ghana. He taught mathematics and computer science at Harbord Collegiate, Parkdale Collegiate and North Toronto Secondary School until taking early retirement. He then spent several years as a lecturer at the University of Toronto in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Most recently, John was the Dean’s representative on Academic Offences. One colleague at U of T described him as follows: “John was an amazing guy. I really admired how he could be simultaneously stern and caring during our academic offense meetings. I will miss him”. There will be a party to celebrate John’s life on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 81 Wells Hill Avenue, Toronto (near St. Clair and Bathurst).
