JOHN “JACK” CONN Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 following a brief illness at Toronto Western Hospital at age 83. Born January 13, 1934 in Belfast, North Ireland. John, beloved husband of Patricia. Dear father of Murray (Jennifer) and Stephanie (Markus). Loving grandfather to Martine, Dillon, Alexandra and Andrew (Randi) and great-grandfather of Dane and Lincoln. Survived by brother Gerry and predeceased by siblings Phyllis, Ken, Willum and Neil. Soon after immigrating to Toronto in 1957, where he met Patricia, John worked on the Avro Arrow’s post-flight modifications; later he was a longtime employee of Hallmark Cards Canada. An avid reader, John also created stained glass windows, marquetry, woodcarving and paintings. He was loved by all, especially extended family in Canada and the Old Country. Special thanks to the staff in Sussex E Wing, Kensington Gardens. The family will receive friends at the HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC FUNERAL HOME, 211 Langstaff Rd. East (west of Bayview Ave.), from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place within the funeral home in the Chapel of St. Joseph on Friday at 1:30 p.m. The final rite of committal will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery (8361 Yonge St., Thornhill).
