JOHNMICHAEL CURTIS

JOHN MICHAEL CURTIS Age 65, passed away on May 30, 2017 surrounded by friends and family. Beloved son of Pauline and Jack Curtis (deceased), John was born October 5, 1951 in Toronto, Ontario. Apart from 3 wonderful years in Bermuda, he spent much of his life close to the home he grew up in and the pool in which he could often be found in the summertime. John truly was a man who was full of life and during his time at Gordon Graydon and the University of Toronto he made incredible friendships that would mean the world to him in the years to follow. He married the love of his life, Gillian Leigh, on April 12, 1980 and is survived by his 3 beloved children Eva, Clare and Desmond and two sisters Carole and Robin and her husband Hannes. A lifetime lover of music, John’s family will cherish his record collection and jukebox and the songs that carry his memory. John had an incredible sense of humour and even in the face of cancer he couldn’t help but bring a smile to those he came in contact with. He is now reunited with Grace, his cherished chocolate lab. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery (737 Dundas St. E., Mississauga, ON L4Y 2B5). Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, with the service beginning at 11:15 a.m. A celebration of a life truly lived will take place at the Brogue Irish Pub in Port Credit (136 Lakeshore Rd. E., Mississauga, ON L5G 1E6), at 1:00 p.m. afterwards. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Gilchrist and the other amazing staff at Dorothy Ley Hospice. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to Dorothy Ley Hospice or The Humane Society as a reflection of his lifelong love of animals.
