JONES, Harold “Hal” Kingston 1944 – 2016 On July 3, 2016 Harold passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and in his wife’s arms after a brief battle with cancer. Harold is predeceased by his parents Mary Ann and Charles, sister Marcia, and father-in-law David McLeod. Harold is survived by his wife and soulmate Bobbie, children Noel (Suzanne), Nicole (Jay), and Giselle (Kris), grandchildren Noah, Owen, Kaden, Taven, Hudson, Ember, and Sutton, sisters Marilyn and Valerie, brother Bruce (Keri), and mother-in-law Dorothy McLeod. Harold was fortunate enough to be married to the love of his life and high school sweet heart Bobbie for 48 years. Harold and Bobbie enjoyed cottaging, camping throughout Canada and the United States, and travelling to Cuba and Europe. Harold was a devoted father who is remembered as the best father, teacher, advisor, and supporter. He was a loving, generous, strong, kind and giving person who encouraged his children to pursue their goals and to put family above all else. From an early age his children were taught the value of family, hard work, and how to build a log cottage. A true renaissance man, Harold was an accomplished mechanic, builder, fisherman, hockey player, guitarist, wood-worker, teacher, coach, storyteller, car enthusiast, stock car driver, writer, and planner of family adventures and excursions. He was the most generous individual who loved politics, history, reading, and music, but above all else his grandchildren. His favourite place was the family cottage, where he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, boating, waterskiing, snorkeling, canoeing, family games, having a drink on the dock, making specialty breakfasts, spending time with his grandchildren, and tirelessly untangling his grandchildren’s fishing lines and baiting their hooks. Harold was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by his many friends. Following his career as an auto mechanic, Harold became a high school technology teacher at Applewood Heights Secondary School and Lord Elgin High School, where he was a much loved teacher and coach. Harold always said “do it while you can”, “family is the most important thing”, and “hug your kids”. A celebration of Harold’s life will take place at the Waterfront Hotel (2020 Lakeshore Rd., Burlington) on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harold’s life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local food bank.
