JOYCE(JO) BLUETT

JOYCE (JO) BLUETT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Jo Bluett, on March 31, 2017. Her children, Jen, Sheila and Jill; her sons-in-law, Barry Rice, John Tutty and Louis Lacoursière; her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren: Danica and Cam Fulton, Lexi, Bruneau and Landis; Nikki and Toby Warren, Elli, Wyatt, and Westley; Erin and Jeremy Phillips, Zoe and Dylan, Mike and Amy Tutty; Etienne Lacoursière and Anne-Sophie Mathieu, Justin and Antoine; Philippe and Stéfanie Lacoursière, Ian and Zac; and all of her family in the UK, have wonderful memories of her strength, resilience, great stories and fun. Born in Beckenham, Kent, England, she enlisted as a WREN during WWII and worked as the secretary to a naval commander. In July 1943, she married John Bluett, a Lieutenant in the Fleet Air Arm and longtime school friend. The young couple decided to immigrate to Canada in 1950 with their two young daughters and their third child would arrive the following year. The family lived in Toronto, Vancouver, Oakville and came to the Clarkson (Mississauga) area in the mid 50s. Since then, Jo contributed greatly to that community through her volunteer work with Saint Bride’s Anglican Church, Whiteoaks, Hillcrest and Lorne Park Schools, the Whiteoaks Tennis Club which she helped to develop and various charitable organizations. After running her household for 60 years, she finally chose to downsize, moving to Walden Circle in Clarkson, Mississauga, at the age of 93! The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of her new friends and the staff of the Walden Circle Retirement Home who encouraged Mum to remain vibrant! In addition to her family, the most important part of her life were her friends. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their support and kindness throughout the years and especially more recently as Mum’s health faltered. You have always been there for Jo, as well as for us. We are grateful. Jo will be remembered for her generosity, stories, wit, bridge, tennis and her joy of cooking. Her love of nature and for animals is reflected in the charities we hope that you will support in her memory. Jo was one of the very first supporters of the Trans Canada Trail which symbolized her love for Canada, for community and for exercise. She also was a loyal supporter of many wildlife organizations and dog associations. Please consider giving to MIRA or other Dog Guide Programs. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8th at 11 a.m. at St. Bride’s Anglican Church, 1516 Clarkson Road, Mississauga, ON. We will miss her always.
