KEITHWALLACE HORSBURGH

KEITH WALLACE HORSBURGH Of Montreal, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Born in Toronto July 12, 1930 to Albert and Willene (née Wallace) Horsburgh, Keith grew up in Montreal and attended McGill University. He was married to his longtime love Myra (Mitzie) Travers in 2001. Mr. Keith, as he liked to be called, ran several manufacturing companies and a travel business early in his career and eventually purchased a farm where he enjoyed ranching, farming and raising Arabian horses and constructing a wonderful home for Mitzie and himself. Committed to making a difference in people’s lives he carried on his father’s legacy of philanthropic endeavors by managing a private foundation, Altru Foundation. A lifetime exerciser, sports enthusiast and health nut (early on he was never too far away from another Tiger’s milk) Keith spent much time with family in Ontario at various lakes boating, swimming and skiing. He played football and was an enthusiastic golfer as a member of the Royal Montreal Golf Club and at many other clubs in Ontario and Florida. Almost every conversation with Keith had some moments discussing health and fitness and what specifically one was doing to keep fit. He was also known as a storyteller par excellence. A huge fan of F1 racing, Keith never missed the Montreal race and he was known to get up in the wee hours to watch other races live. Another of his passions was travel. He travelled extensively with his mother Willene. He and his wife loved going to Cannes every fall. Keith Horsburgh is predeceased by his wife, Mitize Horsburgh (née Travers), his parents, Willene and Albert Horsburgh and his sister, Carol Willene Fullerton (née Horsburgh). He is survived by Carol’s children, Janet Carol Lester, Edward Keith Fullerton, Henry Alec Dick Fullerton and by numerous cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews. His family and friends send special thanks to his Montreal and Vero Beach teams of doctors and caregivers and friends that supported him. In honour of Keith and Mitzie, donations to Altru Foundation would be welcomed: Altru Foundation, 1001 Place Mont-Royal, Suite 1105, Montreal, Quebec H3A 1P2. Family will receive condolences on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de Forêt Outremont, Québec H2V 2P9, 514-279-6540, www.mountroyalcem.com
