SILK, LADY JOAN BEVERLEY (nee AKEHURST) May 9, 1936 to August 7, 2017 Peacefully at Guelph General Hospital. Beloved wife of Lord Michael Eric Silk. Cherished mother to Deborah Joan Silk (Roy McLaren) and Susan Beverley Bergin (Mike Duncan). Proud Grandma to Sam and Olivia. She is survived by her brother Donald Akehurst. Along with the many people whose lives she touched throughout her lifetime as a teacher, traveller and parishioner at St. John’s, she will be remembered with love by Fany Karolidis. Special thanks to Pam Ferguson for her kindness and support during this difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church, 112 Guelph St., Rockwood, with a reception to follow in the church hall. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice, as Joan donated to many charities.
