LIZ (ELIZABETH) MAJ It is with aching hearts and overwhelming sorrow that we announce the quiet passing of our beloved sister Liz at the Carpenter Hospice surrounded by her devoted and loving family on May 21, 2017. Predeceased by her father Józef, mother Katarzyna and brother Rick. She will be greatly missed by her brother Peter; sisters Helen (Kim Nystrom), Irene (Roger Matteau) and Mary (Jason Brown); nephews and nieces Rick (Anita Kwok), Michelle (Guy Albanese), Alex, Brandon, Mitchel, Jeff, Sandra, Tricia and Steven; great-nieces Mia and Rachele; and sisters-in-law Joanne and Karen. Not only was Liz a Special Education Teacher, she was very skilled as both an educator and mentor. She treated each student as an individual, finding novel ways to teach them important life skills to achieve independence. Liz had a fun-loving spirit, a creative imagination and had a special flair for planning and organizing academic programs and events. Miss Maj enriched her student’s lives and in turn was rewarded with love and adoration. “Liz has left an indelible impression on each and every student and staff she has touched”. Liz demonstrated deep kindness to all and was always willing to help others. She found great joy in preparing culinary events for family and friends. She loved tending gardens, nurturing her plants as she nurtured all of us. Our amazing and cherished Liz who has always walked beside us is now looking over us. Liz will be greatly missed by all. Heaven was blessed with another angel the day Liz was taken from us. Catholic service will be held on June 3rd at 12:00 noon at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church (2261 Parkway Dr., Burlington, L7P 1S9). This will be followed by a celebration of life at the Polish Community Centre Banquet Hall (2316 Fairview St., Burlington, L7Y 2E4). In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Carpenter Hospice (Burlington) in memory of Liz would be appreciated.
