Lois Isobel MARRIOTT (nee Wilson)
MARRIOTT, Lois Isobel (nee Wilson) In Lois’ ninetieth year, she passed away peacefully at Billings Court Manor in Burlington on Friday, January 6, 2017. Lois was born on August 9, 1927, in Toronto, Ontario, daughter of John and Edythe Wilson. In 1949, Lois married the love of her life, the late Frank Marriott. Upon their move to Burlington, Frank and Lois built Nelson Business Machines, where Lois worked as the bookkeeper for more than 20 years. In addition to raising three children, Lois was deeply involved with the arts, volunteering with the Art Gallery of Burlington and acting as a docent for the Art Gallery of Hamilton. Lois expanded her love and knowledge of art through extensive worldwide travel with her husband. She was a proud grandmother of Abigail, Brandon and John and enjoyed vacationing with them in Muskoka in her later years. This brought back many memories of her summers on Lake Rosseau. Lois is survived by her sister, Donna Radford of Toronto, ON; son, Charles Marriott (Mary-Lou) of Ocean View, Delaware; daughter, Alison McAuley (Glenn) of Pickering, ON. Lois was predeceased by her brother John (Nancy) of Kingston, ON and her daughter Mary Frances Marriott-Fox. Lois will also be greatly missed by many extended family members and friends. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Billings Court Manor and Saint Elizabeth Healthcare for excellent care. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and a Funeral Service held in the chapel on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Woodland Cemetery followed by a reception at the Art Gallery of Burlington (1333 Lakeshore Road, Burlington) As an expression of sympathy, donations in Lois’ memory to the Art Gallery of Burlington would be sincerely appreciated. www.smithsfh.com
