MARGARET MILLER GRINSTEAD (LEFEBVRE, KANE) Began her earthly journey in Scotland on October 24, 1932 and ended it in Hamilton on September 4, 2016. Marg was the cherished companion of her husband, Arthur Grinstead. They enjoyed many happy years together sharing their love of literature, films, music, tennis, cross country skiing and sailing. Together they explored Georgian Bay and the beautiful waters of their favourite destination, the North Channel. Her surviving sister Ann Thomas, will miss her friendship dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Magdalene and David Kane and her sister Claire. She was a beloved mom, mom-in-law and step-mom to David Lefebvre, Pam Lynch, James Lefebvre, Tim Elliott, Heather Martini, Rob Martini, Michele Lefebvre, Steve Watts, Jason Grinstead, Stefanie Mendoza and Eden Grinstead. Marg was the proud Nana of Amy, Emily and Sarah, Meredith, William and Sammi, Sarah, Breanna and MacKenzie and Carson. Throughout her incredible journey Marg touched the lives of many; as a Manager of Aquatic Programs with the Town of Oakville, at her drawing classes and gym workouts, as a student working towards her MA in English and as a Teaching Assistant at McMaster University (in her seventies, no less), as a member of several churches, as a resident at LaSalle Park and Aberdeen Gardens retirement residences and as a volunteer with many charitable organizations. Marg was a warrior, a dynamo and a person who would not take no for an answer (God help you). Many thanks to the caring and compassionate people who helped care for Marg the past few year, including the wonderful staff at Aberdeen Gardens and LaSalle Park, Dr. Joe Pontoriero and the amazing nurses at Hamilton General Hospital. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), Burlington (905-632-3333), on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 3 – 5 and 7 -9 p.m. A Requiem Mass will be held at Christ Church Cathedral (252 James Street, Hamilton) on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11 a.m., with light refreshments to follow. A Celebration of Life gathering to share stories and to mark Margaret’s life in a more personal way will be held at Christ Church Cathedral at a later date.
