Marie-ThereseMathilda “Tilly” LeDREW

LeDREW, Marie-Therese Mathilda “Tilly” Passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer, at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, on September 7, 2017, at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Roger. Loving mother to Bart (Amanda). Cherished Oma to Kieran. Tilly will be sorely missed by her siblings and family in the Netherlands: brother Ko (Mieke) Rijnen and sister Gonnie (Harrie) van Eeuwijk. Much loved aunt to Caroline (Peter) and Leonique (Rob), great-aunt to Sarah and Lenne and Mart and Sten. Tilly was an accomplished Tole Painter, an active volunteer in Burlington with the local chapters of the Red Cross and CARP (Canadian Association of Retired Persons), a qualified Reiki Practitioner and a Feng Shui Consultant. She enjoyed reading, music, theatre, bicycling, visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens, hiking the Bruce Trail, gardening and was a consummate experimental cook, creating wonderful tasting dishes out of whatever ingredients were on hand at the time (however, she never wrote down the recipes!). Her family wishes to acknowledge the professional and dignified care and support Tilly received from her health care providers, including Dr. Robert Turliuk, but especially the wonderful caring staff and volunteers of Burlington’s Carpenter Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333), on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. For those who wish, donations to The Carpenter Hospice would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com
