MATTHEWS, Marion Doreen Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, July 14, 2017 with her two sons by her side. Doreen Matthews (nee Laughlin) in her 85th year, 6 weeks after her beloved husband John Matthews. Loving mother of Robert and his wife Barb and David and his wife Cory. Nana of Russell, Melissa, Sarah, Megan and Katie. Sister-in-law to Joan Matthews and the late Lois Brandt. Aunt of Nancy and Christopher Brandt. Predeceased by her parents Bea and Elgin Laughlin and her brother Glenn. Doreen graduated from teachers college in 1953 and spent many years teaching in the Guelph and Durham School Boards. She will be remembered for her years of service to Northminster United Church and to the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W. (905-721-1234), on Tuesday, July 18th from 6 – 9 p.m. and at NORTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH (676 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa) on Wednesday, July 19th from 11 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12 noon.
