Mars MIKELL

September 2, 1935 – June 16, 2017

With love and sadness, Mars passed away peacefully in his 81st year after a long, wonderful life and courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

Born in Toronto to Lithuanian immigrant parents, Mars was raised with sister Ruth and brother Roy in the family house at 15 Glen Morris Street.

He was a Senior Engineering Technician with Etobicoke Hydro his entire career. He married the love of his life, Beverly Hoffman, in 1963 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Bev passed due to brain cancer. They lived happily at 50 Carsbrooke Road, Etobicoke, purchased in 1965 so Mars could walk to work.

Mars and his wife were avid mineral collectors, travelling the world with and supporting fellow members of the Walker Mineralogical Club. Mars was an independent discoverer who enjoyed many pursuits including cycling, jogging, hunting, flying, driving, segway-ing, watching the Patriots win, good beer and wine, great food and his cars and home.

Greatly missed by sons Jim (James) and Gabriel (Adam), grandchildren Alexandra and Andrew, brother Roy and extended family members. Many thanks to his childhood, coffee club, nursing, rockhound and wonderful neighbour friends.
