Martin”Marty” RICHMAN

RICHMAN, Martin “Marty” – Age 79, died peacefully on August 7, 2016 at Baycrest Hospital in Toronto. Marty was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Susan Ovens and his beloved dog, Ralph. He will be remembered, with love, by his children and their spouses: Hindy and Mark Kennedy; Amy and Rick Horne; Alex Richman and Cheryl Misener; and Sarah Richman. He was Zaidy to his wonderful grandchildren: Dylan, Tess and Hannah Kennedy; Dali Carmichael and Richard, Kristen, Dalton and Max Horne. Marty will be missed by his sisters Fran Wasserman (Gus Catounis) and Sherry McLean (Pat Collins) and his nephews Alan, David, Michael and Brian Wasserman. He was a good friend and brother-in-law to Kathleen and Doug Yewen. Marty had an accomplished career as a Chartered Accountant and Financial Officer, working for The Addiction Research Foundation, The O’Keefe Centre, The Canadian National Exhibition, Concert Productions International and Bruno’s Fine Foods. As well, over the past 50 plus years, he had a busy private practice, where he always said he had more than clients, he had friends. Marty was also a member, and past president, of the B’nai Brith Leonard Mayzel Ontario Lodge. Marty was a season ticket holder and devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays for many years. He attended his last game on May 28th, with friends and family in tow. He happily ate his favourite kosher hot dogs while the Jays scored two runs in the 9th inning to beat the Red Sox. It was a great way to say goodbye. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, nurses and hospital staff who have looked after Marty during this past year, especially at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Baycrest Hospital. The funeral will take place at Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue W. (three lights west of Dufferin) on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Toronto Hebrew Benevolent section of Dawes Road Cemetery. Shiva will be held at 18 Haida Court, Scarborough. Memorial donations can be made to the Jays Care Foundation or The Shirley and Philip Granovsky Palliative Care Unit at Baycrest Hospital.
