O’BRIEN, Mary-Catherine Mary-Catherine passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital at age 85 after a life dedicated to faith, family, kindness and art. Adored daughter of Charles Larkin and Lillian Grace O’Brien, devoted niece of Father Gerald Cochran and Catherine Cochran and beloved cousin of Father William B. O’Brien, Mary-Catherine was born with a gift and passion for art. She was a respected and well-loved Art and English Teacher with Thomas Blakelock High School in Oakville and York Collegiate where she was also head of the Art Department. She was an avid reader, a world traveller and an always interesting storyteller and writer. After her retirement from her high school teaching career, she continued to teach adults the joy of painting at her art studio and she founded the York Artists Guild which continues to this day. She was a mentor to her students and true friend to all who knew her. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church where her cousin Father Bill O’Brien was pastor for 21 years: St. Pius X Church, 2305 Bloor Street West, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at time to be confirmed. She will be buried with her beloved parents at Mount Peace Cemetery and in death is reunited with them.
