NOYLANDER, Mary Gwendolyn (nee HALLIDAY) April 9, 1920 – July 12, 2017 Mary died peacefully at Christie Gardens in Toronto on the morning of Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Born in St. Catharines and raised in Thorold, Mary was the daughter of the late John C. Halliday and Mary Ann McBride Halliday. She was predeceased by siblings Elizabeth Millar (Charles), Jean Beacock (Grant) and John G. Halliday, Mary is remembered with love by her sister-in-law Mary Frances Halliday and nieces Anne Millar (Donald Gutteridge) and Janet Balkwill (late John) and her daughters Anne Hodgson (Andrew) and Kristy Balkwill. Also remembered by nieces and nephews Robert Millar (Gail), Mary Beacock Beere (Jack), James Beacock (Sandra), John Halliday, Glenn Halliday (Karen), Beth Veldhuis and their families. Devoted friends Annie and Ron Auckland, her ‘big kids’, were an important and constant part of her life. Mary was a creative and talented teacher and consultant with the Toronto Board of Education during her long career. She influenced and affected the lives of countless students and teachers. Her zest for living, her thoughtfulness and her generosity of spirit will be remembered by those who loved and knew her. Christie Gardens has provided a wonderful home for her for the past eighteen years and deep thanks are extended to the staff for her care during the last few years of her life. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, July 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West at Windermere, Toronto. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, July 20 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Inurnment will occur at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold.
